Fe Fi Fo Fun Panto!
Christmas is not cancelled at the Lichfield Garrick! However, the financial and social risk of putting on the large-scale pantomime, Peter Pan, is too great this year and therefore the theatre has decided to postpone Peter Pan until 2021.
But fear not, there will be a larger-than-life Dame, a goody and a baddy treading Lichfield’s stage as the Garrick proudly presents Lichfield’s first bite-size panto, Jack and the Beanstalk!

What is a bite-sized panto, we hear you cry? A bite-sized panto is a shorter run pantomime with fewer performers on stage, allowing the theatre to provide your much-loved Christmas production, with all your favourite characters in a safe environment for cast, crew, and audiences. The bite-size pantomime will follow government guidance at the time of the event and go on sale as a socially distanced event.

This year, Lichfield Garrick will be producing the ultimate bite-sized pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk, which will be a 75-minute show with no interval with lots of Fe Fi Fo Fun for all the family! Written by Paul Hendy of Evolution Pantomimes, who have partnered with the Lichfield Garrick for four years, Jack and Beanstalk will bring all the usual gags and laughter.
Join Jack on the adventure of a lifetime as he falls in love, is tricked by arch-villain, Flesh Creep, and climbs a giant beanstalk to a giant’s lair. Will Dame Trott ever forgive her son? Will Billy work out which end the cow needs milking? Find out in this fun filled bite-sized pantomime, a truly festive treat this Christmas.
Karen Foster, Lichfield Garrick’s Chief Executive said.
“Pantomime is crucial to theatre earnings and the cost of a long closure owing to coronavirus has been a major setback for this theatre. At the Lichfield Garrick we are determined to adapt and bring high quality entertainment to our audiences this Christmas season because we know what panto means to so many people, young and old; we are so looking forward to welcoming you back to the theatre.
Whilst this year’s pantomime will be shorter and with a smaller cast and crew, it will be big on Christmas cheer, family humour and all your favourite pantomime jokes.
Please support your theatre by buying tickets or donating to Lichfield Garrick Arts charity. “

Social distancing and patron safety are at the forefront of the theatre’s reopening plan, with changes being made across the building to make it a COVID-secure venue. These changes include sanitiser stations across the venue, screens and PPE, one-way systems and distance markers, reduced box office hours in a temporary station and the ability to pre-order snacks and drinks via a website. Thanks to our natural ventilation system we have fresh un recirculated air in all public areas. After every show a deep clean, disinfectant fogging machine will clean the seats and ensure the seats are COVID-secure for every performance. The theatre will be following government guidelines at the time of each event with regards to social distancing.
