Penguins at The Rep Theatre 4th-14th December 2019

Penguins is based on the delightful true story of two male penguins in New York’s Central Park Zoo named Roy and Silo. In the zoo they love to walk, play, swim and dance together. When other penguins start to hatch chicks they long for their own egg. This takes them on an adventure which sees them trying to hatch a rock in place of an egg. Could this mean raising a chick for real?

On the day we saw Penguins at the Rep theatre there were a large school group of very excited young children waiting to see it too. For the 45 minutes that the show ran all members of the audience were spell bound. This was quite an achievement particularly when children can be the harshest of critics!

This was a beautiful show for both children and adults. There was no spoken word instead the story was conveyed through dance and music. There was a very clear message of the importance of love and the uniqueness of everyone's family. I left with a warm glow and a little boy who was delighted to see penguins dancing. A real must see.

Penguins runs until the 14th December 2019. For more information follow the link.
